Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs

A few months ago I was blessed to be able to get all my craft supplies out and set up a little craft room/studio. As I was setting up I found lots of old CDs of music that I don’t listen to anymore, I used to be a huge heavy metal fan before I knew Jesus and I was shocked to find some of the music that I used to listen to! I wasn’t sure what to do with them as I didn’t particularly want to give them away and did not what to add them to the landfill. So I decided to see if I could do something creative with them.

I started off by doing bible studies and textile art on them. They proved to be popular and I decided to start a series called Psalms Hymns and Spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19) As I am going to be learning more songs for Church this has turned out to be quite fitting. I am going to look at a different song, either a new one or an old favourite of mine to mediate on while I create a piece based on it.

I thought I would start to share these here as well as the song that inspires them. Here’s the first one:

When I was very unwell at the beginning of my walk with the Lord, I would go to bed each night and listen to music, I would lie there crying and pouring myself out to Him and one of my favorites from that time (and still is) is Sing To Jesus by Fernando Ortega. I would play this song first every night as it would relax me and remind me of what He has done for me.

This is the song

And this is the CD I created ( I sew over the top of the CD using scraps and fabric that would otherwise end up in landfill)

If you wish to see others I have made then come join me on my Facebook page and say Hi!
